148 Years - A Sound Foundation

1860 a momentous year - Charles Dickens completed A Tale of Two Cities, Queen Victoria celebrated her 40th birthday, the great engineer Brunel died, Irishman Robert Burke plans first trek across Australia, whilst in America they drilled the world's first oil well and shot Billy the Kid.

In that year in Westminster just yards from the London office of the National Map Centre, Robert Cook established the Cook Hammond & Kell Group.

The other five companies within the Group, Cook Hammond & Kell - FWT Studios - Oxford Cartographers and MapsUSA are all production units whereas the National Map Centre is an active retail outlet and is the UK and Ireland's largest Ordnance Survey agent and leader in the supply of site-centred large-scale electronic plots and data.
